Richard Swan

1930 - 2015

Swan, Richard “Dick” Edward; passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2015. Richard was born the son of the late George and Magdalene (Pond) Swan in Gary, Indiana on March 24, 1930. He was united in marriage to Charleen Fuhrman on June 20, 1953. His family moved to Clare in 1971 where he spent his energy enriching the lives of those around him while dedicating his heart and soul to his love of family, sports and education. He would eventually pursue his love of fishing full time. He built and created his own fishing charter and river guide and went on to produce his very own custom Noodle Fishing Rod. He touched the lives of many, but no one loved him more than his family. He is survived in death by his wife of 61 years, Charleen; his four children, Cole (Angela) Swan, Jaymie (Barry) Martz, Kurt Swan and Jill (Kevin) Ripley; his six grandchildren, Kiley (Kasey) Beal, Kori Martz , Devon Swan, Morgan Ripley, Seth (Heather) Story and Garrick Swan; along with all of his friends who loved and supported him throughout the entirety of his life. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jay, Jim, and Phil Swan; and his sister, Sharolyn Liedtke. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to MidMichigan Home Care and Hospice.
