Callahan, Karen "Nerky"  
Karen "Nerky" Callahan passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the age of 53 years. Beloved wife of Patrick Callahan, Sr. Loving mother of Kimberly Ockman and Patrick Callahan, II. Daughter of Barbara Rood and John Cavalier. Step daughter of Charles Rood. Sister of Michael Cavalier, Keith Cavalier and Paula Rood. Sister in law of Barbara Authement, Joyce Franks, Martha Heirsch, Rose Smith, Debra Simpson, Phyllis Oser, Theresa Porche, Tommy Callahan, Sr and the late Richard Callahan Jr, David Callahan, Sr and Timmy Callahan. Proud Grandmother of her girls, Raine Marie Ockman and Chloe Grace Callahan. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends at the Azalea Bingo Hall. A lifelong resident of Algiers, LA. Relative and Friends of the family, also patrons of Azalea Bingo Hall are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Mothe Funeral Home, 1300 Vallette St. Algiers, LA on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 1pm. Visitation will be held from 9am until 1pm. Interment will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to cover funeral expenses is preferred. Capo, Shirley V.  
Shirley V. Capo, 81, of American Canyon, (Napa) California, formerly of Metairie, La., died peacefully in her sleep on January 21, 2015. Shirley Gay was born May 6th, 1933, in New Orleans, La., to Ishmael and Nellie Vidonne. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in New Orleans in 1951. Shirley went to University of Alabama and left to become a homemaker. Later she was the office manager for the Louisiana State Horse Racing Commission at the Fair Grounds and Jefferson Downs race tracks. After her career in the racing industry she continued working for Albert M. Stall Oil Properties as office manager until her retirement. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Ishmael and Nellie, her husband Miguel J Kenning Jr., and second husband Leon Capo Jr. She is survived by her son Miguel (Josephine) Kenning III; grandchildren Miguel IV, Nicholas, and Cassandra Kenning of American Canyon, California; and daughter Alison (Jack) Allen; Jack Jr, and Scarlett Allen of New Orleans Louisiana. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Napa Valley Hospice and Home Instead Senior care of American Canyon for their support in her final days. We would also like to thank Tulocay Funeral Home in Napa and Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home in New Orleans for handling all of her funeral arrangements. Visitation will be held at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home in New Orleans, La., on Thursday, January 29th from 10 am until 12 pm. Funeral Mass will follow in the Chapel at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hope Mausoleum in St. John's Cemetery, 4841 Canal Street, N.O. Carrero, Dennis Ortiz  
Mr. Dennis Ortiz Carrero was taken into the loving arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the evening of January 21, 2015, at the hour of 7:09 pm, surrounded by his devoted wife of sixty-five years, and his daughters. He was 87 years old. He was the beloved husband of Marie Yvonne Daries Carrero, and the father of Elizabeth Ann Charlotte Carrero, Ann Marie Carrero and Nancy Carrero Vinci, (Donald). The grandfather of Christine Elizabeth Vinci and Kimberly Ann Vinci. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Carrero was the youngest son of Joseph C. Carrero and Blanche Charlotte Durel. He is preceded in death by both his parents, and his brothers, Henry, Jr., Joseph, George, Leonard and his sister, Rose Carrero. Mr. Carrero served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, the NOFD for 30 years, retired as a District Fire Chief. He was treasurer of the NOFD Union Local #632. He also worked as the Fire Safety Inspector at Charity Hospital, N.O.LA, for approximately 20 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, as a third degree, and AARP President Chapter #897 for 8 years. Mr. Carrero's life will be celebrated with love and joy in a Catholic Mass on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA. Visitation 10:30 am, Mass 12:30 pm. Interment to follow, Greenwood Cemetery, N.O., LA. All friends are invited to join Dennis' Celebration of Life with family and our Lord. Casanova, Rhea  
Rhea Casanova, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015. Beloved Wife of the late Joseph Clifford Casanova, Mother of Joseph Glen Casanova (Elaine); Gail C. Parrozzo (Edward); Cheryl Casanova; and the late Larry Casanova. Daughter of the late William Dillard Murphy and Rhea Smith Murphy. Also survived by her grandchildren: Mark; Kevin; Lisa; Beth; Rachel; Michael C; Brian; Michael P; John; Rhea; Brandon; 23 great grandchildren and 2 on the way. Rhea was 93 years old and a native of New Orleans, LA who grew up in Shuqualak, MS. Rhea was a graduate of Soule College and worked as a secretary for Louisiana's Attorney General's Office until she married the love of her life, Joseph Casanova. Joseph and Rhea began dating while she volunteered at the USO during World War II. They raised a family with four children together and were married for 50 years. Rhea was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who had a love for all children. She was an active member of her church and had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Rhea was a pillar of strength, light and love for her family and will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Wednesday, January 28, 201 at 12:00 P.M. Cavallero, Jacqueline  
A private graveside service was held for Jacqueline Althea Cavallero on January 17, 2015, at Abita Springs Cemetery. Service was officiated by Rev. Warren Heck. She passed away on January 14, 2015, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. Jacqueline was born November 10, 1937, to Leo and Althea Cavallero. She is survived by sister Lois Stewart of Meridian, MS, and brother Leo Cavallero, Jr. of Covington, LA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Althea Cavallero and brother Harold Cavallero. Memorials may be made to your favorite church or charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to E.J. Cazaubon, Lawrence Paul  
Lawrence Paul Cazaubon passed away peacefully on January 23, 2015. Lawrence, a native New Orleanian was born on August 16, 1928 to Paul and Bertha Cazaubon. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Anne Conti Cazaubon; daughters Susan Schussler (John), Jean Meaut (William), Mary Corona (Thomas), Paula Shows (Harvey), and Joan Meitrodt (Jeffrey); grandchildren Ian, Lauren, Amelia, Rachel, Alexander, Harvey, Samuel, Abigail, and Ella; great grandchildren Amielle, Audrey, Joshua, and Maverick. He was a great lover of nature and the outdoors, and talented in woodworking and photography. Linda Ann Chabreck went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2015 at 1:30 am. She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph "Duffy" and Caroline Chabreck. Loving mother of Robert L. Savell (Crystal), Christopher T. Savell (Dana), Melissa J. Savell, and Cory M. Savell (Crystal). Linda is also survived by her brother Larry Chabreck (Velma), grandchildren; Tabaitha, Jennifer, Zack, Casey, Brandon, Joshua, Jeremy, Nichole, Chris, Lil Chris, Heather, Christopher, Brittney, Courtney, and Cory Jr., great grandchildren; Garrett, Devin, Landon, and Caleb, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday January 28, 2015 at 12:30pm from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home 67525 Hwy 41 Pearl River, LA 70452, with visitation from 10 am until service time. Doyca Hymel Champagne passed away on January 16, 2015, at the age of 88 years. Beloved wife of the late Paul Champagne Jr. Mother of Michael Champagne (Patsy) and Debra C. Wenzel (Daniel). Chanel, Curtis Peter  
Curtis Peter Chanel passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015. He was born to Leona Fortier and Legon Chanel on February 4, 1937. A native and lifelong resident of Madisonville, LA, he spent his career working in the Madisonville shipyard (the former Equitable Marine) and was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anselm Catholic Church. He is survived by one brother - Melvin G. Chanel (Geraldine); his God-daughter - Monica A. Chanel; a son - Curtis Harrell, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers - Joseph, Leo, Charles and Anthony Chanel and two sisters - Alice Darensburg and Leona Thomas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12 Noon on Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St. Madisonville, LA 70447. Visiting hours at the Church will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment at the Madisonville Cemetery will immediately follow mass. E.J. Cheramie, Isabel "Betty"  
Isabel "Betty" Cheramie passed away on January 25, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 62 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Cheramie Sr. Mother of Joseph Cheramie Jr. (Sally), Rachel Cheramie, Donnie Aragon Sr., Victoria Johnson (Dukey), Vanessa Brister (Kerry Lou) and the late Matilda Cheramie (Clyde Richardel Jr.). Sister of Jimmy, Jerry, Gary, Kenny and Freddie Aragon, Evie Holt, Tessie Brown, Katy Quintero, Brenda Truitt and the late Donnie Aragon. Daughter of the late Jim and Mabel May Aragon. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was a native of Hale Center, TX, and resided in Marrero, LA. She worked for many years at Dollar General and will be missed by all who knew her.
