Roitzsch, Vianna Theodore
Vianna Theodore Roitzsch passed away on November 7, 2014 at the age of 102. She had a tremendous zest for life and learning. One of her greatest regrets was that she could no longer see to use a computer to research all the things that piqued her interest. She enjoyed her job as an Administrative Secretary in the Cardiology Department at Charity Hospital in New Orleans for 26 years. After retiring from Charity Hospital she worked as a medical transcriber at Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans. Vianna was a faithful member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church for over 40 years. She served on the Altar Guild, St. Julia's Guild, the Pumpkin Patch and Loaves and Fishes, a feeding ministry serving the inner-city. One of her greatest joys was traveling both in the United States and in Europe. Vianna was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Roitzsch; her son, John C. Roitzsch; granddaughter, Kathleen S. Tisdale; and grandson, Thomas M. Sullivan. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary R. Sullivan; her sister, Elaine T. Free; and her grandchildren, Karen Sullivan Provda (Mark), Connie S. Turner (Toby), Kristin R. Small (James), Frederick E. Roitzsch (Lisa), and Karla R. Swain (Martin); and her great grandchildren, Nate Provda, Alex Provda, Kate Turner, Erin Turner, Alexander Small, Jameson Roitzsch, Elizabeth Roitzsch, Monica Swain and Isabelle Swain. She is also survived by her daughter in law, Pamella M. Roitzsch and a host of nieces and nephews. Very dear to Vianna was her dog, Lovee, who appeared at her door after Hurricane Katrina frightened, dirty and hungry. She has been a great companion for Vianna ever since. Family members appreciate the love and care given to our dear Vianna by the staff at Colonial Oaks Living Center, Emeritus Hospice staff and by personal care givers, Anne Walker, Alice Butler, Charlestine Jones, and Jessie Fields. A memorial service will be held on December 13, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at St. Martin's Church, 2216 Metairie Rd. in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM in McKee Hall at the church. Donations in honor of Vianna may be made to St. Martin's Church. Vianna will be missed by all who knew her and appreciate her lively spirit.
