Earl Bendrat 'Coach' Wilken Jr.

Earl Bendrat "Coach" Wilken, Jr. passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 92 years of age. Son of the late Earl Bendrat Wilken, Sr. and Esther Schaff Wilken, husband of the late Edith Hoffman Wilken, father of the late Earl Bendrat "Skip" Wilken, III and Sandra Bennett. Survived by his children, Cynthia Arceneaux, Errol Wilken and Gayle Viverito; grandchildren, Christopher Wilken, Tiffany Wilken, Tina Farmer, Tana Lawler, Chad Wilken, Jessica Bates, Patrick Bennett, David Arceneaux and Catherine Bennett; and great-grandchildren Kathryn, Alexandra, Kailyn, Zachary, Kamron, Reighan, Payton, Baylie, Parker, Connor and Sophie. During his extensive coaching career Mr. Wilken coached at Sam Barthe, Saint Martin, as well as, coached a number of teams for the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department where during his stay, brought home the World's Biddy Basketball Championship to Jefferson Playground. Coach was a World War II veteran, and upon his retirement moved to Beau Chene where he enjoyed numerous days on the golf course and traveling extensively. A Memorial Service will be held at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon. Inurnment at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the , 110 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Suite 160, Metairie, LA. 70005 would be greatly appreciated.
