Arthur J. "Sonny" Hidalgo III

Arthur J. "Sonny" Hidalgo III passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was the devoted husband of Paula R. Hidalgo, brother of William Henry Hidalgo (Judy), and the son of the late Arthur J. Hidalgo II and Anita Irene Hidalgo. Sonny is survived by a son, Arthur J. Hidalgo IV (Susan), two grandchildren, Arthur J. Hidalgo V, Bradley Robert Hidalgo and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Sonny attended Gentilly Terrace Elementary and was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School. He attended LSU, joined the Army, and returned to New Orleans to join the first graduating class from LSUNO in 1962. In the early '60s, Sonny began his career at Domino Sugar (AMSTAR), where he worked until retiring in 1997 as Logistics Manager. Sonny's social life included family events, the Knights of Columbus, Good Timers East Carnival Club and numerous golf clubs in the area. He was a proud of his 2 Holes In One at Royal Golf Club as he was of all the fish he ever caught, all the strikes he ever made bowling, or all the hits and runs he scored in baseball days. The family wishes to thank the staffs at the Cancer Center and Slidell Memorial Hosptial for their excellent care and thoughtful concerns during his illness. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 58189 Hwy 433, Slidell, LA, on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 1:00 P.M.
