I am so surprised and saddened to hear Donald has died. I last saw him with his beautiful wife walking in Audubon Park about 2 years ago. Donald brought so much joy to my little (at the time) girls, Erica and Diana. Indeed, Donald spread joy wherever he went. He had such an inner light! Wishes for peace to all of you. I know you are heartbroken. Love, Caroline Helwick

I grew up with Sarah Louise, and enjoyed greatly weekends with Donald and Betty in Mississippi at the "Woods woods." and vacations in Colorado. Memories from those trips are highlights of my childhood. Then, and always, Donald exhibited generosity, and enthusiasm for life, which he shared with all around him. How lucky we all were who knew him!

It was an honor for me to be in the presence of Mr. Donald Wood Sr. I worked for the family for years before meeting him and when I met him, I felt as though I was in the presence of an angel, someone just passing through to grace me with his presence. He walked with grace and from looking at his beautiful wife, I can see that he was a charm. Good bye to a man that walked so gracefully and when I would see him around his family, I can see he was so proud. I only knew Mr. Wood briefly and indeed it was a pleasure and his attributes live on through his son Donald Jr.
My deepest sympathy to the family and most of all his lovely, sweet, kind generous wife, Ms. Debbby,
Love Paulitha

Although I've only been in the company of Donald a hand full of times, he made our conversations the most memorable and made me the focus of his interest. A true gent, a John Wayne - Ben Cartwright kinda guy. No doubt to all those whom he has touched a better person has resulted.
RIP ...........

It's hard to put into words how much love that Tommy and I felt for Donald. What an enormous heart and soul this man had. Always thinking about everyone else before himself, always a positive attitude, making sure everyone was having fun and felt welcomed, so much love for his beautiful wife, Debby (my dear friend), and his adoring children and grandchildren....what an amazing soul he possessed. Every adventure with Donald is a beautiful memory for us. Tommy's having a hard time not being able to text or talk to him now, and will miss him dearly. I will miss his gentle manner, his advice, and the wonderful times the four of us had together. It won't be the same without him. There will never be another Donald. God bless you our dear friend.
With love,
Barbara and Tommy Tusa

Donald was a good friend when I was in the 5th, 6th and 7th grades. He and I went to Gulf Cost Summer Camp together and on scouting camp outs. I remember the first time I ever saw TV was at his home in 1949. He was one of the good guys.

Donald was one of the easiest going, even tempered, hard working, charitable men that I have ever known. He was by far an asset to the New Orleans area and surrounding communities. Donald had an amazing family who all loved him dearly. His wife, Debby, was top priority in his life and they each encouraged one another in many endeavors. He will be missed by many and I am proud to have been a part of his life. God bless you Donald on your next adventure and may God bring solace to your family.
With love, from Cyndy

if Donald ever had a mean bone in him, no one ever found it. he was a success in just about every aspect of life that matters, loved a good time, good food and drink, and the arts; everyone who knew him knows how much he loved his beautiful children, and how his eyes twinkled when he reveled in and adored his beautiful Debby... his center. ever a softspoken and true gentle man, the world would profit if all men aspired to be a little more like Donald. Cathy and I are grateful for the great times we had with him, and when he graced our circle of friends with his presence. he made everything and everyone around him... better.
