Donald Edward Lapara, Jr. passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the age of 59. A native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Slidell, LA. Son of the late Donald Edward Lapara, Sr; survived by his loving mother, Gail Weixel Lapara and sisters Kim David and Monique Hibbs, niece Lauren David Hesse and nephew Alexander Hibbs. Also survived by his Uncle Lawrence A. Weixel, Jr. and his beloved life-long friend David Thibodeaux. Donald is nephew of the late Shirley Jorgensen, John S. Lapara Jr. and Mercedes Andry. Donald worked with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office for over 25 years and worked as Advocate Director for the Paralyzed Veterans Association for many years. He was an avid archer and won the Gold and Silver medals in archery while competing in the Special Olympics. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Angels Touching Lives (orphanage). www.angelstouchinglives.org. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Saturday July 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel in the Pines, 41 Mississippi Pines Rd., Picayune MS. Visitation will begin at noon.
