A loving, wonderful husband, father, Paw Paw and Paw Paw T went to be with the Lord at the age of 82 on October 14, 2013. Survived by his caring wife of 61 years, Nell Gonzales Tapie, who stayed by his side and took care of his every need. Beloved father of Rickie Brandt (Ricky, Sr.), Wanda Booth (John, Jr.), Russell (Gail), and Kathleen Songy Berniard (Conrad). Devoted grandfather of Ricky Brandt, Jr., Scott Brandt (Amy), Brienne Brandt Frey (Henry, Jr.), John Booth, III (Katrina), Ryan Booth (Josephine), Kevin Booth (Catherine), Aimee Tapie Syrdal (Eric), Christian Tapie (Hayley), Christina Berniard Palmer (Danny, Jr.), Elizabeth Berniard Peralta (Clinton), Anna Berniard Kelley (Randall, Jr.) and 16 great-grandchildren. Godfather of Linda Castelin Pastorino, Cindy Sullivan Thomas and Patti Mulligan Wilson. Sister-in-law, Clemy Hart Gonzales, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other relatives, friends, neighbors and the neighborhood boys. Preceeded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ethel Good Tapie, his sisters, Beryl Sullivan, and Faye Good, grand-daughter Michelle Songy, brother-in-law Ray Gonzales, mother-in-law, Ava Gonzales Cozine and step-father-in-law, Jesse Cozine. Bubby enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 17 in 1949 and served 4 years during the Korean conflict. He worked at various companies during his career as a beer route salesman. He was a member of the Atlas Carnival Club as an officer and past King, as well as, the Beer Barrel Social Club. At the time of his death he was a member of the American Legion Kenner Post 0377 and St Jude Society of St. Mary Magdeline, committee member of Good Friends, and lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Church. A special thanks to our relatives and friends who provided support and compassion during our time of need, as wells as, the employees of Metairie Health Care. Bubby will be missed by all who knew him. He loved people, he loved life, but most of all he loved to party. His favorite saying, "It's Almost Party Time" will be remembered by all. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Drive; on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 5:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family prefers Masses or Prayers. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesfuneralhome.com.
