George Albert Currie passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the age of 83. A native of Honolulu and a resident of Houma, LA. Beloved husband of Julia Trahan Currie. Brother of Adelle Young, Annie Copp and their late husbands Edric Copp and Paia Young, the late Harry K. Currie, Edward S. Kaopuiki and his wife Ruby and Robert L. Currie. Survived by stepdaughters Donna Hutchinson (Ray) and Charlene Lottinger (Dickey) and sister-in-law Maria Currie Dothan and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harry Jackson Currie and Adelle Kaopuiki. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. A 1948 graduate of McKinley High School, Honolulu. A former employee of Precision Tools and Sheraton Hotel, New Orleans. He was a past Master and secretary of Crescent City Masonic Lodge # 387. Also a member of Dragons and Togom. He was the King of the Krewe of Harolds in 2001. Special thanks to The Homestead Assisted Living, Bayou Home Care, Haydel Memorial Hospice and especially his caregivers, Christee Scott, Shiphay Green, Irma Grow and Amae Barthelemy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, (formerly All Faiths), on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
