John E. Kippers, Jr. passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the age of 83 after a brief illness. John will be remembered by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Hoyle Kippers; and their children, Patrice Kippers Ranson (Michael), Terri Kippers Callender (Les), and Scott Kippers (Peggy). He is also survived by seven granddaughters whom he cherished, Bonnie Jo Bayle, Amy Callender Noto (Jere), Meghan Magee Impastato (Vincent), Sarah Kippers Magee, Kelsey Callender Blanche (Ehren), Heather Kippers Bonstaff (Timothy) and Robin Blair Kippers; three precious great-grandsons, Jack and Sam Noto, and Roman Blanche; a fourth great-grandchild expected soon; and his four dear cousins Maxine, Bobby and Gayle Meade, and Michael Guidry. He further leaves behind a host of friends, his Tuesday and Wednesday lunch buddies, special friend Mike Damore, and his faithful Boston Terrier, Oreo. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Kippers and Florence Favaloro Cohen; his sister, Florence Kippers Puglisi; and a dear aunt and uncle Jimmy and Nan Meade. He retired from South Central Bell with 30 years of service, and was founder and president of Kippers Communications, Inc. John "Buzz" enjoyed playing golf with the "Brew Crew", was an avid Saints, Tulane, and LSU fan, and also completed the Great New Orleans Marathon in 1984. Some of his favorite moments were watching his children's and granddaughters' sports activities. Everyone who knew him was touched by his kindness and warm heart. His sense of humor and love of life were contagious. He treasured time with his family above all else. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans LA 70124 on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Monday morning beginning at 9:00 AM until time of service.
