John Francis Vogt, Jr. died on Sunday, November 24, 2013, in his home in Metairie, Louisiana. He was 97. John was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie for the past 22 years. A 1934 honor graduate of Jesuit High School, John graduated from Tulane University School of Engineering in 1938. At Tulane, he was a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary engineering fraternity. He retired as Senior Vice President of Middle South Services. John was a registered professional engineer, Past President of the Louisiana Engineering Society, Past President of the Tulane Society of Engineers, Past President of the Engineers Club of New Orleans, Past Chairman of the New Orleans Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. John was a member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Audrey Seither Vogt and their daughter, Patricia Vogt Baker. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Vogt Mikill and husband Frederick; ten grandchildren: Elizabeth Mikill Tanzberger, Allyson Mikill Johnson, Ashley Baker Lee, Meredyth Baker Anderson, Michelle Patrice Baker, John G. Baker, Skardon D. Baker, Paul G. Baker Patrick B. Baker and Christiane Baker Pitts; and 15 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
