Joseph M. Salvatore passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 11:30 p.m. at the age of 94. Joseph was predeceased by his father, Mike Salvatore and his mother, Theresa Miranda Salvatore. He is survived by: his brother, Michael Marion Salvatore of Metairie, LA; sister-in-law, Gayle Ernst Salvatore; two nieces, Elizabeth Salvatore Earnest of Jersey City, N.J. and Cynthis Salvatore Meurer of Coraopolis, PA; a great nephew, Kevin Michael Meurer; great nieces, Brooke Leigh Earnest, Arden Elizabeth Earnest, Ashley Nicole Earnest, Aubrey Ann Earnest, Katherine Elizabeth Meurer, and Jennifer Ann Meurer. Joseph is also predeceased by his first wife Eloise Daigle Salvatore and his second wife Joy Raines Salvatore. Joseph was born in Lutcher, LA and at an early age he moved to New Orleans, LA where he graduated from Warren Easton High School and attended Tulane University. Joseph was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was then sales manager of Mike Persia Company. After retirement, Joseph lived in Metairie, LA., and Diamond, MS where he was manager of the Architectural Committee which reviewed new home building plans. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Krewe of Diamondhead, serving as the King of the Mardi Gras parade and celebration. In Diamondhead MS. Joseph also enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at GREENWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the funeral service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
