Leroy Jack Ellison passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the age of 84. He was the cherished husband of the late Margaret Jones Ellison for 56 years. Loving father of his adopted son Robert Joseph Sciambra (husband of Taryn Sciambra). Son of the late Lillian St. Julina Ellison and George Walker Ellison. Brother of the late John Ellison, Paul Ellison and Lillian Mae Lytell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to Lisa and Robert Mitchell for the loving care and devotion they provided during the last year and a half to Leroy. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. Leroy was a proud United States Army Veteran. He was a decorated soldier and served in the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart in 1950, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, United Nations Service Medal and a Distinguished Unit Emblem with the 21st Infantry Regiment. Leroy was a native a New Orleans, LA and a resident of St. Bernard Parish since 1964, until Hurricane Katrina. He has since resided in Carriere, MS. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
