Linda Sue Jones Matthew Townsend

Linda Sue Jones Matthew Townsend passed away at her home on Sunday morning, September 25, 2016. She was 68 years old. Beloved wife of Larry Townsend Sr. for over eleven years. Loving mother of Mitzi Dufrene (Brent), Trent Matthew (Kristin), the late Chad Matthew, and Larry Townsend Jr. (Tania) and Jonathan Townsend Sr. Grandmother of Blake Dufrene, Dale Dufrene, Skylir Tamplain, Jaymes Tamplain, Jonathan Townsend Jr., Calvin Townsend, and River Townsend. Sister of Patsy Coffey, Claude Douglas Jones (Janice), and Marsha Hanlon (Brian). Daughter of the late Claude and Gwendolyn Jones. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Linda was a native of Plaquemine, and had lived in the New Orleans area for over 44 years. She retired from the Jefferson Parish School System after many passionate years of teaching. She was a talented gourmet chef and gardener, and enjoyed traveling with Larry and her family. She will be greatly missed by all. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service from LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Friday evening, September 30, 2016 at 7:00. Visitation will begin at 3:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis or the American Cancer Society are preferred.
