Norman G. Hedrick, Jr., the beloved husband of Gloria Baldwin of 70 years. He passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the age of 91. He was the father of Dianne Hedrick Bellas (Stephen) and Glenn Hedrick (Janice), and the late Norman G. Hedrick III. He was the brother of Roy Hedrick, and the late Earl, Merrill, Lawrence, and Gerald Hedrick. He was the grandfather of Capt. Noel Bellas and Marcel Bellas. He was the great grandfather of Lily and Lainey Bellas. He was the son of the late Norman G. Hedrick, Sr. and Loretta Cook Hedrick. He was a resident of Jefferson Parish for 59 years. He graduated from Warren Easton and was a member of the State Champions All American Football Team of 1942. He was inducted into the Warren Easton High School Athletic Hall of Fame on May 16, 2008. He served with the 3rd Army in Europe during World War II. He worked in the oyster and construction industry, and he was the past president of the LA. Oyster Dealers and Growers Association. He was the past commander of the American Legion Post 348 and a member of the American Legion Post 350. He was a master swimmer at Elmwood Fitness and took part in the Senior Olympics for many years. He was a member of the Corporation 20 Stock Club and the Good Old Metairie Boys. The family would like to extend their special thanks to our care givers, Mimi Gaines and Mary Rogers. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 beginning at 10:00AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at a later date.
