Wesley Preston Jackson, (Wes) passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the age of 81. Preceded in death by two wives Frances Claffee and Beverly Nagel, parents Wesley Preston Jackson and Jean Jackson. Survived by daughter Jackie Jackson, son Charlie McCormick, and beloved companion Jean Warren. Born in New York City in 1932. He moved to Leesville, LA where he graduated from Leesville High School at the age of 15. Wes is a 1954 graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. There he was a member of the band and the symphony orchestra. Wes proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He then went on to have a 34-year distinguished career as a journalist, photographer, and Religious Editor for the Times Picayune Newspaper. Wes wrote a weekly article entitled "Circuit Riders". He was sent abroad on numerous assignments and also had the opportunity to interview Billy Graham. Wes also covered numerous Tulane, LSU, and Saints football games. He thoroughly enjoyed interviewing and meeting 4-H students across the state for the 4-H Good Provides Program. The Times Picayune Newspaper awarded Wes a fellowship to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Wes was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Tulane, loved to read, and had a great sense of humor. He cherished working his daily crossword puzzle with a cup of coffee and a cigarette. Wes was a true romantic at heart and will be greatly missed. Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, Covington, LA in charge of arrangements.
