William M. Carey, Jr. age 92, of Metairie, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:30 am at his home in Metairie. William will be remembered by his loving wife of 70 years Gloria Ricks Carey and their children: William of Metairie, Kevin and wife Denise Carey of Houston, Mark and wife Sarah Carey of Natchez. Son of the late William M. Carey and Mae Helwick Carey. Also survived by 5 grandchildren: Jessica Duncan, Tara, Alexia, Tyler, Adair Carey and 1 great grandson, Colton Duncan. He graduated from Metairie High School and attended Tulane, LA. Tech, and LSU. William was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flights as a P-47 fighter pilot during the Mediterranean Theater of Operations during WWII. He was formerly employed by Kaiser Aluminum for 25 years. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:00 am in All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
