Bettie Florence Stovall Rosenbaum died on Monday, July 7, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia, after a long illness. She was 87 years old. Daughter of the late Frank Barton Stovall and Hattie Ethel Boyd Stovall. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Percy Rosenbaum. Loving mother of Judy Rosenbaum Juran of Jerusalem, Israel, Linda Rosenbaum Hart (Scott) of New Orleans, LA., Mindy Rosenbaum Parnes (Mitchell) of Lakewood, CO., Lisa Rosenbaum of Atlanta, GA., and Tana Rosenbaum Coman (René) of New Orleans, LA. Sister of the late Frances Stovall Francis and Dorothy Jean Stovall. Grandmother of Avi, Tamar, and Naama Juran; Jena and Manya Parnes; and Daniel and Eva Coman. Aunt of Joseph Francis of The Woodlands, TX., Ava Rose Schipper of Toronto, Canada, and the late Susan Rose Cohen. Bettie graduated from the University of Montevallo in Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics with a minor in fine arts. She then interned in dietetics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Later, she became the head dietician at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She met her future husband, Percy Rosenbaum MD (LSU School of Medicine, Professor of Pediatrics), when he gave a lecture to the hospital dieticians. After her youngest child entered high school, she took courses at the Uptown Jewish Community Center in copper enameling, and enjoyed it so much she bought a kiln. In the late 1970's and early 1980's she helped run a Hillary Street gallery, Enamellers Incorporated, with fellow artists Jullie Yoedicke, Gerri Puyau, and JoAnn Ballanco. She exhibited enamels at Carol Robinson Gallery and won awards in American Craft Council competitions. Bettie was a great cook and wonderful storyteller, and will be missed dearly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Chevra Thilim Cemetery, 5000 Iberville St. in New Orleans, on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 10:00AM.
