George Philip Bauer, Jr., a retired Federal Supervisory Auditor, died November 22, 2013 in San Juan Capistrano, California. He was 88. He was preceded in death by parents George P. Bauer, Sr. and Wilhelmina Baum, stepmother Lillian Leaveau, sisters Leona Bauer Bartlett and Joyce Bauer Sahuc. Mr. Bauer was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie, Louisiana until he moved to San Juan Capistrano in July 2013. He graduated from Warren Easton High School and Louisiana State University. He was an active football player on Warren Easton's team during the New Orleans' 1940's Golden Age in Prep Football and an avid LSU Tiger fan since 1950. While at LSU, he served as President of Beta Alpha Psi and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He held a 'Life Membership' in the LSU Alumni Association, was a member of the American Legion, and a Charter Member of the National WWII Museum. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Nerney Bauer of Metairie, LA, son, George P. Bauer, III (Bonnie) of San Juan Capistrano, CA and grandsons George Philip Bauer IV and Michael William Bauer of San Juan Capistrano, CA. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:30 A.M., with service at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Dr. Clarksburg, MD 20871.
