Rodney John Acosta Sr., age 66, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Beloved husband of Marilyn Ocman Acosta. Son of the late Wesley Acosta and Sylvia Arnondin Acosta, and son-in-law of Dolores Ocman. Loving father of Connie Acosta Lamke (Chris), Rodney Acosta Jr., Brian Scioneaux (Amy), and Emily Scioneaux Cormier (Jeffrey). Devoted grandfather of Kerri Courville (Casey), Cassidy Prudhomme, Alexis Acosta, Hannah, Karley, and Evan Scioneaux, and Brooke Cormier. Step-Grandfather of Lani Guidry, Kal Landry, Lee, Anthony, and Matthew Cormier. Great Grandfather of Landon Prudhomme. He was also a loving brother-in-law and uncle, as well as friend. Mr. Acosta proudly served as a pump operator at the Nine Mile Point Fire Department for 20 years. He also worked for Poche Welding for 11 years. He was born in Westwego, Louisiana, and resided on the West Bank for the majority of his life. A Prayer Service will be held in the Parlor of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM.
