William Frederick "Bill or Fred" Buquoi, age 98, born on June 25, 1916, in Alexandria, LA, died on July 6, 2014 at his home in Marrero, LA, surrounded by his loved ones. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Thelma Carbo Buquoi and also preceded in death by his son Stephen A. Buquoi, his parents, Henry A. and Christine Schwabe Buquoi, sisters; Olive M. Buquoi, Miriam Buquoi McCloud, Blanche T. Buquoi, and brothers; David E. Buquoi, Allen B. Buquoi (Alberta) and Fabian A. Buquoi (Helen). Survived by eleven off springs; David A. Buquoi (Connie), Judith A. Buquoi,, C. Tim Buquoi (Mary Ann), Francis J. Buquoi (Kathy), William P. Buquoi (Rita), Thomas K. Buquoi (Mary Anne), Maria Buquoi Bordelon (Philip), Mary Buquoi Finn (John), Paula Buquoi Labit (Carl), Christine Buquoi (Chris), Frederick G. Buquoi and daughter-in-law Dalana Matthews Buquoi. A proud grandfather of 34 grandchildren and 67 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His love and witticism will be missed by all who met or knew him. He worked tirelessly to support his large family. Also helping other families. Those who knew him were blessed to have had him in their lives. Mr. Buquoi served his country in the United States Army and was a retired pipe fitter from Avondale Shipyards. A devout parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marrero for 62 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM and on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 7th St., Marrero, LA at 10:00 AM. Interment following in McDonoghville Cemetery in Gretna, LA.
