Joseph John Burregi passed away on February 23, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years of age, a native of Independence, LA and resided in Marrero, LA for the past 67 years. Beloved husband of 57 years to Beverly Morvant Burregi. Father of Jeanne B. Saputo (Sal), Carl J. Burregi (Eileen), Catherine B. Adams (Ray), Darlene B. Kemp (Ed) and Keith J. Burregi (Leslie). Brother of Deacon Sam Burregi, Jr. (Noella), Margaret Andrus (Wayne), the late Philip and Victor Burregi. Brother-in-law of Craig Morvant. Son of the late Sam Burregi, Sr. and Vita Michel Burregi. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joe owned and operated Ragusa Food Store for many years. He was a devout parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marrero for 41 years, served on the Parish Council and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 4222. He was awarded the Order of St. Louis Medallion for his dedication and devotion to his Church. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all those who lifted us up in prayer and helped us all during this difficult time. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 Seventh Street in Marrero on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 9 AM until 12 Noon (Rosary recitation at 10 AM). A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment in Westlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Immaculate Conception Church, 4401 Seventh Street, Marrero, LA 70072.
