Raymond Louderis Washington, Sr. entered into eternal rest at the age of 97 on the evening of March 30, 2014. He was born on June 3, 1916 in New Orleans, LA to Rev. Noel and Marguerite Barriere Washington. He was married to the late Lathecia Lousteau of Lucy, LA for 41 years. He is survived by four children, Sandra Sayles of Lewisville, TX, Brenda (Rufus) Johnson of Douglasville, GA, Raymond Washington, Jr. and Rachel Mercadel of New Orleans, LA. The fourth child of 14 children, he is survived by two sisters and a brother, Martinique Landois of Los Angeles, CA, Rayer Bemiss of Lewisville, TX and Maurice Washington of Los Angeles, CA; as well as, a host of relatives and friends. He was affectionately called "Papa" by his 11 grandchildren, 24 great grand-children and six great-great grandchildren. He was a decorated Veteran of the United States Coast Guard and was employed by Lykes Brothers Steamship Company as a Merchant Marine (seaman) for 38 years. He has been a devoted member of Corpus Christi Parish for over 90 years, and was the oldest living parishioner. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Avenue.
