Roy Brouillette, a loving husband, father, and proud St. Bernard Parish resident and recreational coach, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the age of 83. He was the beloved husband of Martha Dembrun Brouillette. Loving father of John Brouillette (Diane) and Darlene Brown (Brian). Son of the late Hickman and Lena LaBorde Brouillette. Proud grandfather of Corin Brouillette, Jessica Harris (Peyton), Troy Brouillette, Nicole Brouillette, Joe Lacoste and Bradley Lacoste (Beth). He is also survived and fondly remembered by his 2 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Roy was a native of Marksville, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his military service, he was an active resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was instrumental in the establishment of the St. Bernard Recreation Program (4th Ward / Rebel Park). Roy was honored by the dedication of the Roy Brouillette Center (Lacoste Gym) which was sadly lost in Hurricane Katrina. Following the storm, Val Reiss Park re-dedicated a baseball diamond in his name. He was also honored by his induction into the St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. A memorial gathering will be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, April 12th. Family is invited from 12:00PM – 12:30PM and guests are invited from 12:30PM – 3:30PM. A memorial service will take place in the chapel beginning at 3:30PM. Following the memorial service, family and friends are welcome to join in a celebration of Roy's life from 4:30PM – 6:30PM at the Paul Noel Gymnasium, located at 210 E. Moreau Dr. in Chalmette. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame c/o Brouillette and forwarded to 148 Golden Pheasant Dr., Slidell, LA 70461.
