John R. Russo passed away on April 14, 2014 at the age of 93 from complications of advanced age. He was the beloved husband of Marie Gauslin Russo. Son of the late Frank Russo, Sr. and Hanna Ryan Russo. Brother of the late Frank Joseph Russo, Jr., Katherine Russo Dewitt and Mary Russo Nefus. Father of Ronald R. Russo, Sr. (Melanie) and Carol Ann Russo Hasney and the late John R. Russo, Jr. He is also survived and fondly remembered by grandchildren, Lisa Hasney Carraci, Kelly Hasney, Jr. (Shelly), Ronald Russo, Jr. (Christina) and Michelle Russo Fischer (Chris) great-grandchildren Annie Hasney, Kaylee Carraci, Claire, Sarah and Maggie Mae Hasney, Jacob and Annabelle Fischer, Karen, Tyler, Christopher, Cindy and Laila Robbins, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and his dear friends. John R. Russo, Sr. was a native of New Orleans. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy Seabees during WWII. Following his military service, he enjoyed 65 years of dedicated service in the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union No. 60. He was well loved and will deeply be missed by his family and by all those whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:30 am. Interment in Cypress Grove Cemetery, 124 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, La. Condolences may be expressed online at www.tharpsontheimer.com.
