Doris Bertheaud MacKenzie de Armas passed away on April 13, 2014 at her home in Covington, Louisiana. She was 96. Doris was born on January 20, 1918 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the second of three daughters of the late Charles Peter MacKenzie (1893-1985) and Ethel Elizabeth Bertheaud-MacKenzie (1896-1936) of New Orleans. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Joseph de Armas, Jr. (1916-2010) and her sisters, Betty Cleland MacKenzie-Cocreham (1923-2007) and Ethelyn Lucille MacKenzie Schaffner Connor (1916-2013). Doris is survived by her two children; Lynne de Armas of Covington, Louisiana and William Joseph de Armas, III of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Doris was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in New Orleans where she served as director of the child day care center. She was an active participant along with her husband in the Southwestern Federation of the Cosmopolitan Club International, a well recognized philanthropic organization. In 1984, she and her husband Will moved from Metairie to her most recent domicile in Covington where she had since resided. The family would like to thank Shawanda Handy and her family for their many years of compassionate, loving care. Visitation will be on Thursday April 17, 2014 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm with interment to follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
