William Sidney "Sid" Allen lost his courageous battle with cancer at Passages Hospice on Monday 4/21/14. Born in Mayfield, Kentucky in 1949, he was educated in western Kentucky: in Hickman, Fulton, and Hopkinsville. He is preceded in death by both parents: Riley and Shirley Allen. He attended the University of Kentucky studying business administration. He then joined the interior design firm of Lloyd and Tedrick for several years. Sid moved to New Orleans in 1977 where he worked successfully in the office design field. In 1987 he traveled to Medjugorie; his life changed. He devoted himself and his talents now to helping others, first in the thrift stores at St Vincent de Paul. Then, in 2002, he joined the Bridge House/ Grace House Thrift Store Operation. There his energy and passion made him an important participant in innovating and managing a thrift store operation for an organization whose sole purpose is to help others. He is survived by his sister, Linda Allen Witty, brother in law, John Witty, and their children: Ellen Witty Bell; Maggie Witty; and Jay Witty all of whom reside in Chattanooga Tenn. Sid's family invites all of his friends and coworkers from Bridge House to a gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La. to bid him farewell this Friday 4/25/14. Visitation from 9 am – 11: 00 am, followed by Memorial Mass in the Chapel.
