Dorothy Mae Stehle Sires, born August 27, 1914, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Edward E. Dawson; her 2nd husband, Henry Sires; her parents, William Howard Stehle and Catherine Hoffman Stehle; her sisters, Irene McGee (Homer), Mildred Harris (Edwin) and Marion Turner (Barnes); and her godchild, Victor McGee. She is the loving aunt of Howard Harris (Judy), Marion Turner Fryer (Ed), Edwin Harris, Jr. (Penny), William McGee (Camay) and Irene McGee Foy. She is also survived by her cousins, Golda Berger and Millie Bell, 5 great-nieces and 8 great-nephews, 12 great-great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-great nephew. Dorothy was a retired employee of the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of the Pink House Jefferson Golden Ages and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She volunteered weekly at the Pink House and enjoyed weekly activities there. She graduated from LSU in 1934 with a degree in Home Economics. She enjoyed the outdoors, where she participated in golf, tennis, fishing and horseback riding. Her passion was her home garden; always beautiful with flowers. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at St. Clare Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge for their loving care of Dorothy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001, on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
