Chris Bowler lost his long fought journey on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Chris was a Lung Transplant recipient and was grateful for the additional time that was bestowed to him to be with his family and friends. He was 68 years old. Chris was born in Nottingham, England and moved to the United States in 1980. He became a very proud American Citizen in 1992. As a teenager he was a member of the Sea Cadets in the Royal Navy, which inspired him to become a Marine Engineer. He did a 5 year apprenticeship with Mitchel Diesel of Nottingham, England. Chris was retired from Tidewater Marine, Inc. where he was Worldwide Manager of Maintenance and Repair. He had a passion for woodworking and was enjoying his new lifestyle of RV living. Chris was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, the American Coach Association and the Crusin Cajuns. He is preceded in death by his parents, Colin Michael and Kathleen Mettheringham Bowler. He was a loving husband to Paula Guidry Bowler and adored his children, Karen Stringfellow Bowler (Joseph Gainford), Jason Galjour, James Bowler, Heather Galjour Gabler (Glenn Gabler) and Emma Bowler (Chrissy Irwin). His life will live on through his granddaughters, Gabrielle, Katie and Emily Gabler. He is survived by his brother MIchael Bowler of Gt. Yarmouth, England (Margaret) along with nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held after the visitation at his daughter's home (Heather Gabler). On his behalf, the family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions in Chris's honor be made to Life Gift, 2510 Westridge St., Houston, TX 77054.
