Edward Henry Moldaner, Jr., founder of Moldaner's Camera Store on City Park Avenue, New Orleans, died Monday, June 22nd at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 81. Mr. Moldaner was born in New Orleans on October 15, 1932 and resided in Metairie for the past 55 years. He was a graduate of Warren Eastern High School. He was a United States Army Veteran. His business was never "work" to him. He loved what he did and was a true gentleman to everyone he encountered. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Henry Moldaner, Sr., his mother, Leona Collignon Moldaner Gervais and his son, Victor James Moldaner. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mae Alfortish Moldaner, two sons, Robert Frank Moldaner (Cindy), Brian David Moldaner (Elizabeth) and daughter, Karen Frances Moldaner Hooter (Aaron); his 9 grandchildren, Nicholas Moldaner, Daniel Moldaner, Laura M. Occhipinti (Michael), Allison M. Hess (Marvin), Sabrina M. Primes (Chad), Brian Edward Moldaner, Aaron Joseph Hooter, Alexander Hooter, Alyssa Hooter; his two step-grandchildren, Michael Mixon and Melissa Mixon, and his 4 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving niece, Laureen Gauthier Paillot (Robin) and grand-nephew Paxton Paillot. Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, June 26, 2014 10 a.m., Liturgy will begin at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Lake Lawn Park.
