Joyce Emily Kolbe Carter, age 87, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Canon Hospice in Jefferson, LA. Joyce was born in New Orleans and grew up in Mobile, AL. She was a long time resident of Metairie and also made many dear friends in Church Point, LA after Hurricane Katrina. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Earline Bernadotte Baudoin Kolbe, Jr.; her brothers, Charles, John, and Jim; and her sisters, Martha, Margaret and Rose Mary. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Anita and David Glockner of Kingston, TN; her granddaughter, Monica Ashar and spouse Neil, and great-grandson William C. Ashar of Washington, DC; and her granddaughter, Amanda Means and spouse Zachary of Elkridge, MD. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her special friends, Rodney and Ernest Chiasson of Metairie and all the "Babies", many treasured friends in Metairie and Church Point, LA and one nephew and many nieces. She attended St. Ann's Catholic Church in Metairie and was a member of the Rosary Group that met on Wednesdays. The family is honoring Joyce's wishes and no services will be held.
