Alice Fields Haynes, at the blessed age of 89, passed into peaceful eternal rest to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 2, 2014, while at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Baton Rouge, La., where she resided for the past twelve years. She was born on September 21, 1924, and lived in New Orleans, La., married to the late Robert M. Haynes and together had eleven children. She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Laura Fields Sr., brothers Jerome Fields and Louis Fields Jr., son, Kwaku Amenhotep, great-grandsons, Rashad Roy, Jared Haynes and her Aunts and Uncles. She was a member of St. David Catholic Church, dedicated Eucharistic Minister and fervent prayer intercessor who touched many lives by her wisdom, patience and calmness of spirit. A very loving, compassionate mother, whose life exemplified faith, hope and love, survived by her children, daughters Evangeline Hughes, Patricia Smith, and Deborah Brown (Trevor); sons Vernon Haynes, Sr. (Vonda); Carey Haynes, Kirk Haynes (Phyllisia), Bruce Haynes (Sharon), Kenneth Haynes Sr. (Faye), Carl Haynes (Dawn), and Keith Haynes (Leslyn). She is also survived by thirty grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Alice's home going will be Thursday July 10, 2014, at St. David Catholic Church, 5617 St Claude Ave., New Orleans, La. 70117. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 am. Funeral will be entrusted to the Tharp-Sonthemier-Tharp Funeral Home, Metairie, La. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans, La. Relatives and friends of the family, priests and parishioners are invited to attend services.
