Born February 19, 1933 to Rose LeBanca and Elmer Emile Wendel, Sr. Passed away on February 10, 2014. Survived by a loving wife of 61 years, Lois McKinney Wendel, four children: Sharon Wendel Hassinger (Tom), Lois Wendel Scheaffer (David), Rick Wendel (Kathleen), and Skip Wendel (Kristen), nine grandchildren: Erica, Jessica, Erin, Nicholas, Stefan, Ricky, Adam, Justin and Matthew, and one great grandson, Michael David. He was a native of New Orleans and lived in Mandeville for the last 23 years. He graduated from Warren Easton High School and Tulane University, where he earned a degree in Business. He was a part owner of the Wheel Hardware, a homebuilder, and active member of the N. O. Homebuilders Association. He was a heart transplant recipient, which enabled him to live for the last 21 years. He was very grateful for this gift and volunteered at LOPA for many years and participated in many races through the N. O. Track Club after the transplant. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., N. O., La. on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.; mass at 1:00 P.M. with interment to follow at Hope Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
