Jawara Jay Givens

Jawara Jay Givens was called home to rest at the age of 18. Jawara was an outgoing, trustworthy person who enjoyed interacting with others. He saw only the good in everyone. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed, and was adept at, fishing, hunting, boating, and swimming. He was a senior at St. Augustine High School, where faculty, staff, and students alike were fond of him due to his willingness to assist those around him. He had been on the basketball team, and excelled academically, resulting in numerous college invitations. Faculty played a prominent role in his academic success. He was working towards obtaining the various goals he has set, one of which was to attend law school, and establish his own firm upon graduation. He was formally recognized for his creative writing expertise. Thanks to everyone for their heartfelt condolences. Survived by his parents Lenard Givens (Step-mom Emma ) and mother Blondy Moore. Bother of Shedrick D. Givens, Lamont Perkins, Lenard D. Givens, Saylaina D. Givens, Fredell McKee, Iysha Givens, Zena Moses, Junice Moore, Brandon Moore and Kwesi Givens, grandmothers: Ella Lee Locke, Jewel Carney and grandparents the late Shedrick and Annie Ruth Givens. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, July 10, 2015, at Mt. Herman B.C., 3512 Hwy 90, Avondale, LA, for 10:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. Dismissal Service at St. Paul #1 B.C., 5575 Hwy. 952, Wilson, LA.
