Theresa Galbo Obituary

Theresa Mary Galbo, longtime owner, operator and matriarch of Liuzza's Restaurant & Bar passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 9, 2017 at the age of 92. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi on January 16, 1925 and moved to New Orleans with her parents and siblings at an early age. Growing up in New Orleans above her parent's grocery store, Theresa learned all about running a small business. As a dedicated mother of three young children, Theresa found work at Liuzza's, a neighborhood restaurant near her home. She began working as a waitress in the mid 1950's, and after almost 30 years of hard work and a steadfast commitment to her master plan, Theresa bought Liuzza's Restaurant & Bar in 1981. In time, she was able to include all three of her children in the business. Theresa was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her family, and will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will always be remembered as a happy, extremely witty woman sitting at the register, chatting with patrons as they waited for the next available table, and running the show for so many years at Liuzza's. Theresa is survived by her loving her sons, Frank L. Bordelon, II (Lori) of New Orleans and Michael A. Bordelon, I (Darlene) of Picayune, Mississippi. Also, survived by her grandchildren, Frank L. Bordelon, III (Danielle), Michelle Bordelon Magee (Jonathan), Michael Bordelon, II (Lauren), Katie Bersuder Bounds (Jon Erik), TJ House, Jennifer House (Aaron), Raymond Edler, Jr. (Sondra), Rayme Edler and her great grandchildren, Zachary Bordelon, Noah Bordelon, John Paul Bordelon, Aiden Bordelon, Michael Bordelon, III, Hunter Allison, Aubree Bounds, Caleigh Edler, Isabel Caballaro and Mya Edler Nygren. Ms. Galbo is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Theresa was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Shanette Bordelon Edler (Raymond), her parents, Joseph and Josephine Galbo, her eleven siblings, Lena Galbo Fertitta, Anne Galbo, Mary Galbo Culotta, Angie Galbo Glorioso, Frances Galbo Frisinger, Margaret Galbo Bundrick, Mary Galbo (infant), Sam Galbo, Gathan Galbo, Frank Galbo, and Emile Galbo. The family would like to express many thanks to our mother's "girls", who took such good care of her over the past several years. Debi Heinsz, Ellen Sylve, Connie Gaudin, Kim Mills, and Angelique Strother, we are forever grateful for the care, love and joy you brought to our dear mother. Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Monday, March 20, 2017 beginning at 10:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the service. To sign and view the guest book, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

I will always remember Aunt T sitting in Liuzza's with that big smile on her face talking with everyone in the restaurant! And of course being at our five (5) year reunions. She will be missed very much by our family. RIP our dear Aunt T.

May you please take comfort in the powerful words written in the bible for our comfort. Matthew 5:4 reads.."Happy are those who mourn since they will be comforted." May the father of our Lord Jesus Christ continue to ease the sorrow of your heart at this time. ~with compassion
