Alfred Joseph Englade Sr.

Alfred Joseph Englade Sr. at the age of 91 peacefully went on to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2017. His devotion to his family, strong work ethic as well as his belief in his heavenly Father supported him as he battled with a body and mind weakened with age. Alfred was born to the late Odette Marie Englade and Israel J Englade in New Orleans, LA on August 28, 1925. Alfred served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Alfred had his own refrigeration and air conditioning business for several years and then moved on to a civil service position with Naval Air Base in Belle Chasse, LA. Alfred raised his 6 children with his late wife Joyce Ann Englade in Metairie, LA and later retired to Belle Chasse, LA where he made many lifelong friends and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church. Alfred was blessed with a large and loving family. Alfred is survived by his sons Dennis Englade and Bryan Englade; his daughters Denise Englade and Iris Huddleston; and his sister Dorothy Gaudet (Sis). He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Englade, brothers Dennis Englade, Russel Englade, Israel Englade Jr. (Buck), Edward Englade (Eddie) and his sister Doris Kight; stepson Thomas R. Brantley and his eldest son Alfred J Englade Jr., all with whom he now rejoices with in Heaven. Alfred is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, all of whom he was very proud of. Pastor Chris Housewright will officiate the funeral service held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Monday April 10, 2017 at 11am in the chapel. Visitation will be held Monday morning 9am- 10am for family and 10am – 11am for friends. Alfred will be laid to rest with military honors at Lake Lawn Mausoleum in Metairie, LA.
