Matthew "Darek" Marks

BLOOMVILLE: Matthew "Darek" Marks, 44, of Bloomville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2013, at Marion General Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born March 4, 1969 in Gallipolis, Ohio, to Dennis and Linda (Bonnell) Marks and they survive in Perrysville, Ohio. He married Kendra M. Nicholls May 2, 1987 in Fremont, and survives in Bloomville.

Other survivors include four sons, Matt and Bryan Marks of Bloomville, Cyle and Dennis Marks of Tiffin; a brother, Dean (Suzie) Marks of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Maria (Richard) Zickefosse and Melinda (Rob) Wynn of Loudonville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Jullea Michele Marks; grandparents, Creed and Mary Bonnell and Ernest and Pearl Marks.

He was a 1987 graduate of Old Fort High School, a US Army veteran serving during the Panama Conflict (JustCause). He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and hunting, and driving his woods buggy. He was a quick with a joke and had a great sense of humor. He was employed for 17 years as a sprinkler fitter for Vulcan Enterprises in Carey.

His funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville, with Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disable Veterans of Tiffin, his sons, or to the Republic Boys Scouts Troop 442.
