Alan Evanda McKnight

FREMONT: Alan Evanda McKnight, 70, died at home June 17, 2012. He was born September 15, 1941 in Kannapolis, North Carolina to the late Hettie Mae (Walker) and the late William Evanda McKnight. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School in 1959 and from the University of North Carolina in 1964.

Alan moved to Fremont in 1968 and worked for Union Carbide/Eveready Battery as an industrial engineer until its closing in 1998. An active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, he was a cherished friend and sponsor to many over the past twenty-seven years.

He is survived by children, Amy McKnight of Fremont, Jennifer McKnight (Wes Trotter) of Medfield, MA, and Jason McKnight (Melissa Paluch) of Falls Church, VA; he is also survived by older brother James, twin brother, Eric; sisters, Linda Brock and Libby Toler; grandchildren, Ashley, Melissa, Trevor, Anna, Silas, and special friend Linda Stine.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in North Carolina at a later date.
