FREMONT: Cecil R. Hollis, 80, of North St., Fremont passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his home.
He was born on October 11, 1930 in Indianapolis, IN to Noble Cecil and Mary E. (Phelps) Hollis. Cecil served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Doris Tharp on April 11, 1952 in Indianapolis and she survives. Cecil was a Medical Technician at Memorial Hospital for thirty-eight years and also served as the Interim Director of their Laboratory. He was a member of Grace Brethren Chapel and a past member of Grace Community Church where he served as Deacon and Official Board member. Cecil sang in a gospel quartet called the Harmony Four and also played the trumpet. He was a former member of Fremont Jaycees. He was a long time supporter of the Cherry Street Mission in Toledo and several other missions associated with his church. Cecil was a private pilot and enjoyed fishing.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Doris Hollis, Fremont, OH; children, Linda (Stephen) Clark, Noble (Cathleen) Hollis, both of Fremont, OH, Norman (Kathleen) Hollis, Toledo, OH, and Janelle (Roy) Welker, Batavia, OH; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH. Service will be Thursday, October 21, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH with visitation from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Church prior to the service, Pastor Keith Merriman will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont. A military graveside service will be provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
