Edward L. Guyer
FREMONT: Edward L. Guyer, 81, of County Rd 41, Fremont passed away on Friday, June 08, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 6, 1930 in Fremont, the son of Karl and Julia (Mikus) Guyer. He attended Fremont Ross High School.
Ed served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunners Mate aboard the U.S.S. Fitch, from July 1948 to July 1952, and was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal. He married Marylou Gabel on July 4, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont and she survives.
Ed worked as a Route Salesman for Wonder Bread for thirty years and retired in 1992. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus; VFW and American Legion where he was a former member of the Military Honor Guard. Ed was an avid champion horse shoe pitcher and enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, and playing cards. He loved traveling to visit his children and grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his wife, Marylou Guyer, Fremont, OH; children, Annette Johnson, Frankin, TN, Sandra (Tim) Burnham, Apache Jct, AZ, Joseph (Lisa) Guyer, Charlotte, NC, Lisa (Paul) Moorman, South Bend, IN, Thomas Guyer, Frisco, CO, Steven (Christine) Guyer, Cincinnati, OH and Carrie Arizpe, Rockville, MD; sixteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl and Albert Guyer; sisters, Ida Toth, Julia Meszaros and Mary Ann Guyer.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH. Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, June 12, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, with Fr. Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial: Ludwig Cemetery, CR 12, Fremont
