FREMONT: Glendale "Salty" Haas, Jr., May 29, 1938 - October 10, 2012, 74, of Lisa Ann Dr., Fremont, OH passed away on October 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 29, 1938 in Fremont, OH to the late Glendale and Margaret "Peg" (Anstead) Haas, Sr.
Salty was a 1956 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and attended the University of Louisville where he played football. He then served in the US Army.
Salty married Nancy L. Buehler on December 1, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church and she survives. He worked as an office manager at Miller Pipe Line until he retired. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Fremont Masonic Lodge and the Green Springs Eastern Star.
Salty enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, showing draft ponies and horses. He was an avid supporter of Fremont Ross Athletics and enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events.
Salty is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Haas, Fremont; children, Paula (Jerry) Michaels Coley, Columbus, OH, Paul (Donna) Michaels, Harrisburg, PA, Cindy (Dr. Wade) Michaels Young and Tammy (Matt) Haas Mittelhauser both of Fremont; twelve grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lila Allan; daughter-in-law, Cindy Michaels.
Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Funeral Service: Monday, October 15, 2012; 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with his son Pastor Paul Michaels officiating. Burial: Lindsey Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Green Springs Masonic Center Elevator Fund.
