James A. "Jamie" Durnwald

CLYDE: James A. "Jamie" Durnwald 75, of Clyde, died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

He was born in his home on July 3, 1937 in Vickery, Ohio to the late Alfred and Cecelia (Kromer) Durnwald.

Jamie went to school in one-room schoolhouses throughout Vickery and Riley Township and graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1955.

He grew up attending St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. He went on to serve our country in the US Air Force.

He worked at Whirlpool Corp for 45 years, mostly as an electrician, having retired in 2000.

Jamie enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, bird watching, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He was an avid Indians and Browns fan. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of the Clyde Eagles, where he had served as President and Treasurer; Clyde Moose; and Clyde VFW. He served on the Board of Directors of the Clyde-Findlay Area Credit Union for 35 years.

Throughtout his life, Mr. Durnwald was very active in the Boy Scouts, especially Troop 320 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

On August 6, 1988 he married Ruth A. (Young) Durnwald and she survives in Clyde; Also surviving are his children, Mark Durnwald of Clyde and Melissa (John) Consolo of Bellevue; his grandchildren, Anthony and Chelsie Consolo and Whitney and Markie Durnwald; his step-children, Douglas (Leslie) Frater of Texas and Stacey (Kelly) Koselke of Clyde; his step-grandchildren, Jacob and Nathan Frater and Jaret and Connor Koselke; and his sister, Rita Myers of Beloit, Ohio.

Jamie was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Robert and William Durnwald.

Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main Street, Clyde.

Eagles services will be held 6:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. His funeral will be 10:30am Thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde.

Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Boy Scout Troop 320 or to Clyde FFA.
