FREMONT: LaMar C. Gardner, a retired Army veteran, passed away peacefully in his home of Fremont, OH Jan. 6, 2017. He was born August 21, 1927 in rural Vickery, OHIO to the late Charles V. and Mary L. (Carnicom) Gardner.

LaMar was a meat cutter for the Kroger Co. for 30 years and worked in the profession a total of 44 years.

LaMar was an avid bowler in various leagues in the Fremont community for 50 years. He was most recently voted into the Fremont Bowler's Hall of Fame. Other interests included his love for gardening and his Cleveland Indians!Throughout his years, Lamar was active in many community organizations including, the Sandusky County Fair Board, the Clyde Grange, and the Exchange Club of Fremont where he served as past president. LaMar was also a member of the Fremont Eagles Aerie #712.

LaMar was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Edna M. (Jacops) Gardner.

He is survived by his children L. Grant (Darlene) Gardner, Janet (George) Broske, Charles W. (Ramona) Gardner, a brother, Wayne (Dee) Gardner along with 6 Grandchildren, 3 Step-grandchildren, 9 Great grandchildren, and 6 Great step-grandchildren.

LaMar was a member of Grace Community Church 900 Smith Rd. Fremont, Ohio, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Jan. 11, 2017 with the Rev. Forest Kirchenbauer officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 - 7PM at Mitchel-Auxter Funeral Home 218 S. Main Clyde, Ohio on Jan. 10, 2017. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde with military rites provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
