Margarette Guinevere Powell

CLYDE: Margarette Guinevere Powell, 76, went to the Lord, after a lengthy illness, on September 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

"Aunt Vere", her name to family and friends, was born in Harold, Kentucky on May 17, 1937 to John and Laura (Roberts) Martin in her family home place. She later moved to Clyde and attended school.

On December 19,1953, she married John Leigh Powell at First Missionary Church in Clyde. This December they would have been married 60 years.

Vere loved crocheting, cooking, canning and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Vera "Lynne" Meyer (Bill) Clyde; her son, William "Bill" (Glenna) Powell, Bellevue; six grandchildren, Diana K. Howey (David), Bryon J. Meyer (Jami Schneider), Abby L. Meyer, Christopher A. Meyer (Carrie) all of Clyde, Megan L. Prine (Nathan) and Rebecca A. Powell, all of Bellevue; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ethan, Eian, Ella and Emmitt Howey, Joshua Meyer, Noah Massie and Samantha Hitchcock; sister-in-law, Bonnie Rice of Berea, KY.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Vere was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, William L. Martin, Dewey Martin, Bobby Joe Martin, Hallard Martin, Gilva Reynolds and Edna Newsome. As well as her in-laws; J. Corvell Powell, Lyman Powell, Howard Powell, Thelma Chasteen, Lona Woodall and Nancy Rice.

Visitation will be on Wednesday October 2, 2013 from 2-6:00 PM at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be on Thurs., Oct. 3, 2013 at 1:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Rodney Shaull officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Hospice.
