Merle L. Harder

ELMORE: Merle L. Harder, 79 of Elmore, OH died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Swan Creek Retirement Village Nursing Home, Toledo, OH. He was born December 19, 1932 in Limestone, OH to the late Lawrence "Murph" and Wilma (Myerholtz) Harder.

He was a 1950 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, and a 1951 graduate of the Gale Institute of Technology, Minneapolis, Minn. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Coast Guard. On October 2, 1954 he married the former Norma Weidner who preceded him in death May 23, 2005. He retired as the superintendent for the Village of Elmore. He held memberships with St. John United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #279, Historical Society, Lions Club, volunteer firefighter all in Elmore.

Survivors include his children, Kimberly Danes, Robin (Paul) Hansen, Steven (Jeannie) Harder, and Todd (Colleen Schule) Harder; eight grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren; and brother Clint (Joanne Price) Harder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald and Dennis; and sister, Twila Zimmerman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Schedel Arboretum & Gardens, Elmore beginning at 2pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 5pm at Schedel's.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made to Cherry Street Mission or Senior Independence Hospice.

Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore- Genoa Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
