Paula L. Shaffer

CLYDE: Paula L. Shaffer, 71, of Hamer St., Clyde, OH passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH.

She was born on February 16, 1941 in Bellevue, OH to Lester and Norma (Overmyer) Beachler. She was a 1960 graduate of Bellevue High School.

Paula served as a W.A.C. in the U.S. Army. She married Roy Shaffer on July 12, 2003 and he survives.

Paula was a Homemaker. She worked at Inoac for five years and also worked at Mr. Wiggs and Hecks in Fremont. Paula was a member of Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed wood carving and was a volunteer at Elmwood Nursing Home. She loved to travel the world.

Paula is survived by her husband, Roy Shaffer, Fremont, OH; sons, Harve (April) Prater and Denzil F. Prater, Jr. both of Clyde, OH; brothers, Dennis (Stella) Beachler, Pt. Clinton, OH and Raymond (Kathleen) Killian, Fremont, OH; step sons, Paul (Xu Chen) Shaffer, Tokyo, Japan and Tim (Laurie) Shaffer, Elmore, OH; granddaughter, Brandi Greenfield; great granddaughter, Arriana; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edward Beachler; two husbands, James S. Drown and Denzil F. Prater, Sr.

Visitation: Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH and Friday at the Church of the Nazarene, 1925 North Fifth St., Fremont from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Service: Friday, July 20, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Dan Vickey officiating. Burial: Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Green Springs, OH with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.
