BETTSVILLE: Richard A. "Tiny" Thompson, 61, of Bettsville, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at The Toledo Hospital. He was born in Fremont on July 27, 1950 the son of Ralph and Edith (Bahnsen) Thompson.
On November 23, 1985 he married Mara Lantz in Fremont, OH. Upon graduating from Bettsville High School in 1971, Richard went to work for Basic Quarry and later for Whirlpool Corp., retiring after nearly 30 years of service.
He attended First United Church of Christ in Fremont, was an honorary member of the V.F.W., Fostoria Sportsmen Club and an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed trains, Browns Football, Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State Buckeyes and watching western movies.
Surviving is his wife of 26 years, Mara Thompson of Bettsville, OH; brother-in-law, Richard Lantz of Fremont, OH; sisters-in-law, Marie (Kevin) McCourt of Vickery, OH, Chris (Fred) Craig of Fremont, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Thompson ; and sisters, Opal Thompson and Anne Harold.
Friends will be received Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at First United Church of Christ, 1500 Tiffin Rd. Fremont, OH.
A Memorial serviced will begin at the church at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Elaine Bast officiating.
