Robert Joseph Clark

BELLEVUE: Robert Joseph Clark, 78, of Townsend Township, Bellevue, died at his home on Thursday, June 7, 2012.

Mr. Clark was the only child of George Perrin and Elinor (Wickerham) Clark. He was born on December 11, 1933 in Sandusky. He was a 1951 graduate of Townsend High School and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery.

Bob was a life-long farmer, which was his vocation as well as his hobby. He was the fifth generation to farm the home place purchased by his great-great grandfather, Jonas Clark in 1937.

Bob served in the US Army from 1956-1958. He was a member of Townsend Friendly Couples Farm Bureau Council; and Townsend Ruritan. He was a past director of Rural Serv Inc. and Sandusky Milk Producers; past member of Margaretta Grange; and EHOVE Adult Young Farmers.

Survivors include his wife of over fifty years, Barbara A. (Smetzer) Clark, whom he married on April 22, 1961; and elder son, Scott (Ellyn Wood Ruffing) Clark; four grandchildren survive, Amanda S., Portland, OR, Jonas R. BGSU, Marissa L., Capital University and Jared Scott Clark, Sandusky; and step grandchildren, Katherine Ruffing, Clyde; Jennifer Ruffing, Norwalk, Eric Ruffing, Bellevue and Amy Ruffing, Monroeville; his cousins, Walter Wickerham and Ron Ray of Clyde, Alton Ray of California, Shirley Ray Vining, Delaware, Ohio; along with brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Gwen Smetzler, Port Clinton, Robert and Karen Grauberger, CA and Doug and Denise Kinnear, DE also survive.

He was preceded in death by his younger son, Loron Joseph Clark, December 23, 1986; his father in 1986; his mother in 1970; and his in-laws, Norman and Winifred (Rife) Smetzer.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 4-8:00 PM at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue, Ohio. The funeral will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 10:30 Am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery with Rev. David Klappenbach officiating. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Church Dishwasher Fund; Hospice of Memorial Hospital; Townsend Ruritan or Loron Clark Scholarship Fund.
