AVON LAKE: Alice Mae Whiting, 71, of Avon Lake, died at Hospice of the Western Reserve, Westlake on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
Alice was born on May 14, 1942 in Green Springs to the now deceased Carlton and Mildred (Fought) Schwan. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1960. She was member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary in North Olmstead.
Mrs. Whiting had been the manager of the railroad dorm in Bellevue.
In May 1962, she married Orville E. Whiting, who preceded her in death on February 17, 1975.
Survivors include four children, Robert Whiting, Avon Lake; Kenneth Whiting, Phoenix, Daniel (Denise) Whiting, Elyria and Karen (Russell) Clear, St. Louis; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; siblings, John (Barb) Schwan, Ca; Marian Beier, and Carol Hoffman, both Clyde.
Mrs. Whiting was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Eads.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2104 at 10:30 AM at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde with the Rev. Ray Kovach officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
