Norman Schwochow

CLYDE: Norman Schwochow, 95, passed away on June 9, 2014 at Arbors, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Townsend Township on August 14, 1918, to William and Rosa (White) Schwochow. He was a 1937 graduate of Townsend High School.

In 1943, he was married to Pearl Heyman by Rev. Frank Jordan at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde of which he was a member. They observed over 70.5 years of marriage.

He taught Sunday School at St. Paul for Thirty years and served as a lay pastor at St. Francis in Green Springs for fifty years. He was employed at Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde for 43 years, retiring in 1983, and was a member of the company's Management Club.

He served as Mayor of Clyde from 1972-1977, and as a member of the Clyde Council for 12 years. He was chairman of the building committee for the Clyde Municipal building and chairman of the building committee for St. Paul Lutheran Parish hall.

He enjoyed organic gardening, harness racing and daily walking.

His faith in God and loved for his family had no boundaries.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl; sons: Gene of Clyde and Stephen of Golden Colorado; and by nieces and nephews in Ohio and Florida.

Preceding him in death were his sister, Esther (Frank) Wott and brothers, Albert, Burton, Eric, Roy, William, Nelson, (Twin) and James.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 4-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
